Office Workers
These environment are similarly described for IT Professionals.
Computer keyboards and desktop areas tend to be the most likely source of infection. This is primarily due to poor
hygienic practice of their Users. Some keyboards, telephones and similar objects (see below for further examples) do
not get properly cleaned. If they are used by people who, quite simply, do not wash their hands properly (e.g.
before eating, after the using the toilet, after coughing or sneezing, after touching their face or body etc.) then infections
can rapidly spread.
Office Water Coolers, Telephones,
Photocopiers and Fax machines can all present a high risk of infection to workers; with varying levels
of severity.
How
to AvoidTheBugs when in the Office:
- Wipe down your
desk and surrounding items with a disinfecting wipe once a week
- Keep
a hand sanitizer at your desk and use it throughout the day
- If
you eat at your desk on a regular basis, you are inviting bacteria to grow all around you. Sanitise your work
area before and after eating
- Wash coffee mugs and glasses
on a regular basis
- If you're sick, don't go to
work
